Finance Tips After Graduation

There’s no book of finance wisdom that they give you when graduate college. But there are some financial lessons that should be mandatory in your 20s. You’ll avoid a lot of financial hiccups and be one step ahead of your financial goals.
Start saving for retirement. I know that retirement seems a bajillion years away, but time is on your side. Use the power of compounding interest and you’ll build a sizeable nest egg. The key is to save early and consistently. You’ve got time for your money to grow, so let it work for you. A $1 saved when you’re 20 will be worth 7 times more than when you are 50.
Get health insurance. You’re never sick, right? Wrong. Things can go wrong. A car accident or a serious illness can ruin your financial health. The cost of insurance is a small amount to pay so that you’re not under water in medical bills. Purchase a policy on your own or don’t skip your employer’s insurance plan.
Live below your means. Be frugal. Just because you can afford it doesn’t mean you should always have it. Save money, don’t create unnecessary bills. If you have to, live with mom and dad for a few more years to save a bit more money and pay off bills.
